1. Pay Your Tithe. This just goes without saying. God commanded us in His word to bring a tenth of all that we earn to His store house and in turn, He will pour out His blessings on us. Malachi 3"10 explains this better. "Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace. They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God. 19 And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. 20 To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen. The Bible is full of examples of sacrificial giving.
The Benefits of Giving (2 Corinthians 9:6-10) 6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
There is Scripture on giving thanks to God for us believers: “Praise the LORD! Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever” (Psalm 106:1 NKJV). “Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name” (Hebrews 13:15 NKJV).
James says five important things about God’s Word in this passage. 1. God’s Word is good. It’s for your benefit. If you’re not reading the Bible, you’re missing all the promises, instruction, and benefits God wants to give you. 2. God’s Word is perfect. It’s a “perfect gift.”. If it’s perfect, it means it’s infallible. God is the source of strength, power, and refreshment. They all come from our relationship with God within the proper keeping of the Sabbath day. He gives it to us as a gift of His grace. He restores our energy. He gives us the power to overcome and to grow. He gives us peace of mind so that we are truly rested. “Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples! Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works! Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice!” (1 Chronicles 16:8-10). Abel shows us that giving God the first portion, your first and your best, is part of living by faith. God gave his first and his best for us. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”.
Dedicated people say to God ‘Lord, anything that I cannot give to you, don’t give it to me’. 2. Dedication is affection (Ps. 42:1-2; 1Chron.29:3-5; 1 Kings 3:3-4; Matt. 6:21) Dedicated people are lovers of God and lovers are givers. Your treasure travels in the direction of your affection; your hand gives where your heart is (Matt. 6:21). I believe in the God of mercies who has chosen me to be a steward of Mother Nature and Mother Church, in spite of the infidelities He knows I will still commit. I believe in the power of giving and in the power of loving like Jesus; because love is the only way to holiness; giving is the best proof of loving; and perfect renunciation leads to The power of God is at work in our world. The power of giving never leaves the possessor empty. He is the first beneficiary. The benefits are enormous and encompass the spirit, soul and the body of the individual, which results to prosperous life. For example, you have joy when you share whatever you have with another. I will give you a thank offering. I will call on the LORD’s name. Colossians 3:17 (EXB) Everything you do or say should be done to obey [or as a representative of; in the name of] the Lord Jesus. 2. Gratitude helps to ‘center’ us so we can find stability in Him. Instead of desperately grasping to cling to God, we begin to realize we are already in the ‘grip’ of the One Who is not moved by our circumstances. This releases the ‘grip’ our circumstances once had on us. 3.
